The Nazi on shore leave “Shore-Leave OIC” has banned me from his blog. Whatever his position is in the United States Army is irrelevant, for he wants the Army to be replaced with Tactics. Tactics and technology will turn our Army into kids in a bunker playing Nintendo, with drone planes and armed robots. That is not an Army. The heart of the Army is the grunt, his blaster, his hole and his presence. Slowly but surely the infantry’s presence has been reduced, first by bows, then by gun powder. Our Army’s function was completely replaced last century by politics, jet fuel and the advent of the Nuclear bomb.

The new war became economics and mental occupation (aka fearism). To defeat Communism the United States encouraged the Privatizing Corporations of America to pump the US economy with the Militarized Industrial Complex. This enabled the politicians to realize their goals by creating more publicly acceptable and “humane” killing machines and increased the power of sanctions. Now their dream is almost fully realized with armed remote GPS systems and the Quasi-Federal Reserve. An Armies purpose is to occupy. No Nation State that respects the ideology of Nation State should occupy a sovereign state other than as an absolute last resort for current self preservation. But that is the problem with State lines that are formed by history, for history is made every second and occupation changes the line.

The following is my farewell dance with one of our soldiers. Some posts have been edited for length but the context was left intact.

A Backwater operator in action, a buddy of mine gave them rides in his “Shit Can of Death” (Chinook for you civilians) when he wasn’t busy.

While this video certainly has a “cool factor” I have no respect for mercenaries. Now I’m sure some people will say, “They aren’t mercenaries they are contractors”. Whatever, if it walks like duck, talks like a duck… That being said, at least they are on our side!

Unfortunately fratricide is part of reality. Soldiers, mercenaries, and even the enemy has accidentally killed each other in combat in the “fog of war”. I’m sure you remember the Pat Tillman incident. I’m sure Backwater may have made similar mistakes but these are often publicized and aren’t very sensational news, its a part of life.

The biggest risk of fratricide is usually the Air Force. They have a LOOONG history of accidentally dropping bombs on the wrong guy. I suppose when your 10,000 feet in the sky, everyone looks the same as you drop a 2,000lb bomb.

An incident that did get international news is how a group of British mercenaries got cut in half (LITERALLY) by a .50 caliber machine gun. The problem was they went through a check point but didn’t know the proper pass phraze, so the guards (US military) open-ended up with a .50 Cal, the remaining personnel were dispatched with small arms fire. Nothing happened to the military detail as they did their job, it wasn’t their fault the English mercs didn’t know the pass phraze, and in wartime security is high. Some people cried fowl but just a week ago that same security detail lost three men after another vehicle didn’t know the pass phraze and then exploded itself (a terrorist attack)

Well the correct term should be contractors. The term mercenary more or less describes what they are doing as opposed to their official title of “force augmentation” or “security detail”. The military trust them as any other contractor who prepares food, provides security on CONUS installations, or performs logistics capabilities. All contractors are subject to a thorough background investigation that is usually done through the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The company is also measured against past performance, clientele, and the employees it has as well as current ongoing operations. All of this is then verified again through the IRS and supplemented (in some cases) with a complete audit. Contractors have been performing activities that range from classified to top secret since the Revolutionary War, so the theory behind Backwater is nothing new. The simple fact is that the military could either build up SOCOM to deal with every and all problems, a solution that would take DECADES to implement or it can sub-contract out specific activities to certified contractors. In terms of Backwater itself, it’s important to note that most of their personnel are in fact prior military members with experience ranging from telecommunications, aviation, special operations, and information services. I’m sure you can find more about Backwater on their website…maybe even submit your application

I’m assuming that Backwater is a corporation. If so, then the company is considered a legal person which removes even more liabilities from the members that constitute it. Although the audit does make sense, our Army wouldn’t want to hire private killers that are too concerned with the bottom line. Who knows what corners they would cut. This is madness.

Our military has already and will continue to employ these individuals. the video you saw was real, and they are still in action. Hiring contractors in nothing new, and this goes back since the country was founded. Recently Backwater was in the news as some of its members families have brought a lawsuit against it claiming Backwater provided bad security to their sons. I don’t know if that has been resolved. The individuals hired from Backwater usually all hold at least a secret if not “eyes only” clearance from our own government. Many of them were former special operations or delta operators. So the US isn’t too worried about using them. As for hiring contractors from Africa, South Africa, Australia, South East Asia…no way…unless its gate-guard duties.

Violence has always gotten a bad rap. That’s because people just don’t understand it. First of all, regardless of what people tell you, violence solves problems. Actually, violence, taken to certain extents, can solve any problem. Is someone annoying you with their idiotic opinion? Beat the hell out of ‘em. Don’t know the answer to a math problem? Pistol whip your teacher until he gives it to you. Having trouble understanding tax forms? Firebomb the I.R.S. headquarters. War and famine exist on earth? Nothing that can’t be solved by nukes, nukes, and more nukes. See, how can someone be against something with so many practical uses?

And, for the environmentalists out there (and other whiny annoying people), violence is completely natural and bio-degradable: the lions savagely tear at the antelope for food, the wolves viscously bring down a deer, my dog angrily bites me when I tease him, and the dolphins stupidly run into nets made for catching tuna (well maybe that last example doesn’t show animal violence in nature, but I like the image of it). Why don’t one of you enviro-mental-cases try talking things over with a mountain lion and see what happens? I bet you one of your arms and legs that it chooses violence.

And why not.

Violence is truly a universal language. Do you really think we are able to reason verbally with people in Iraq who don’t understand why their nation is poor when their leader uses all their money to build himself eighty palaces? But everyone… check that …everything understand the message behind saturation bombing. Violence truly allows every living thing to communicate between each other.

Can we expect there to be understanding between species when everything has its own form of communication: our thousands of languages, the dogs barks and stances, the bees complicated dance, the dolphins whistles and clicks (the dolphin’s language, incidentally, contains three hundred variations of the expression, “Duh…”, but has no word for, “Look out for that tuna net!”), etc. Hell no. That’s where violence comes in. Think of it less as aggression and more as an effective form of communication.

When the wolf viciously bites at an intruder on its territory, it’s simply saying, “Excuse me, sir, but this is my property, and I would like some privacy.” When the intruder savagely claws back as it tries to escape, it’s communicating, “I see. Sorry. I guess I’ll be leaving.” When you get too near a bee and it stings you, that’s but its way of saying, “Noli tangere!” When you crush the bee out of spite, that’s just your reflexive way of declaring, “Don’t do that. It upsets me.” Why spend millions trying to understand what dolphins are trying to say when a few boots to their heads will communicate all we ever need to tell them? There’s no reason. It’s just people’s ignorance that prevents us; that’s all.

If people could just understand how effectively violence allows us to communicate with all living things, perhaps it would be a better world. Why if everyone could be violent to everything for but one day, think of all the understanding it would create of each other. We would have reopened the gates to the Garden of Eden, a viciously savage Garden of Eden, but a Garden of Eden nonetheless. The only people stopping this bloodthirsty utopia are the pacifists, but I know that a brutal beating will show them our side.

So, remember, while you may bring a pocket translator to better communicate with people of other languages and cultures, I pack a Colt .45.

Thank you thimscool. I notice quite a lot of wisdom coming from you. Shore-leave I don’t know what you’ve experienced in this life; but it must have been terrible. For violence to be your answer to solving problems and/or annoyances makes you sound like a bully. Frankly you don’t seem like a bully to me. So I’m not sure what this is all about, maybe just a crappy Monday. Sending you a bloggy hug.

Aphorism describing true loyalty. Nowhere is this as well demonstrated than in the teen-scream flick I Know What You Did Last Summer. In this movie, four teens attempt to hide the evidence of an accidental homicide by dumping the body in the sea, only to begin receiving mysterious notes the next summer claiming to know what they had done.

Nowadays, we see this on bumper stickers, and in .sig files, but how many of us can count among our friends one loyal enough to help move a body?

None, none at all. In today’s world friendship means just about as much as someone’s word which is absolutely nothing. It used to be that a man’s word was just that, his word and it carried great meaning. If you borrowed $1000 dollars and said you would pay it back Tuesday then you did, and it was simply as that. A man’s word was backed by himself, not a credit reporting agency or “references”. If you insulted a man or called his integrity into question then it was settled in a civilized and dignified manner, a gun fight. There were no court cases, no crippling debt, no sore feeling over who was wronged and who was right, there was a body on the floor and sometime there were two. Idiocy and cowardice were rewarded with death and those fools did not live long enough to perpetuate their stupidity and make all of society weaker for it. These days if someone insults you then you can’t just unload your .45 into his head as his family and children watch. No, you must present a more “civil” example to his children; namely that you may say and do whatever you choose with little fear of reprisal. Karma is merely a myth and the world is ruled by those who have large sums of cash. Kill your wife who you claimed you loved? Then simply hire a dream team of lawyers and smile as you walk out of that courtroom a free man while you set the example for all the children to see, with money you can do anything. I have no idea why this is but then again I didn’t major in rhetoric in college and communications in college.

Today a friend is what we used to consider an acquaintance not too long ago. An acquaintance can be described as follows:

Syn. — Familiarity; intimacy; fellowship; knowledge. — Acquaintance, Familiarity, Intimacy. These words mark different degrees of closeness in social intercourse. Acquaintance arises from occasional intercourse; as, our acquaintance has been a brief one. We can speak of a slight or an intimate acquaintance. Familiarity is the result of continued acquaintance. It springs from persons being frequently together, so as to wear off all restraint and reserve; as, the familiarity of old companions. Intimacy is the result of close connection, and the freest interchange of thought; as, the intimacy of established friendship.

Most of you reading are probably thinking, “Well that’s the definition of a friend isn’t it?” No, its not. A friend is more properly defined as follows:

The difference between the love of an acquaintance, the love of a good friend, the love of a best friend, the love of a spouse and the love of a good god (whichever) is in the amount of one’s own wrongdoing they are willing to endure without taking their love away.

The keyword there is “endure”. For example if your supposed “friend” called you up at 2 am because they “accidentally” killed some hooker would you call the police, tell him to turn himself in, or help him dispose of the body? You see, those are all varying degrees of “endurance”, or you can just hang up the phone and choose not to endure. This would make you not a friend or even an acquaintance. Anyone who has ever been in love knows that you will endure both good and bad. However in today’s modern society you can simply file for divorce based on “irreconcilable differences” which is nothing more than a fancy copout by saying “I don’t wish to endure anymore”. A good example of a friend is O.J. Simpson’s friend who helped him evade police on a high speed chase. Despite what you may think of O.J. Simpson he did manage to have a good friend in his time of need which is more than most of us can say. How many of us have “friends” that would be willing to put their life and freedom in jeopardy just to get us out of a jam? The military can be a special place as this way of thinking is more common. Normal civilians whose biggest challenges in life come from picking the right school or selecting either a venti or grande at StarBucks fail to understand “true” friendship. In contrast those who have been pinned down by enemy fire for HOURS tend to realize what qualities are desirable in a friend and can respect what true friendship means.

Earlier this year a group of Special Forces operators had lost their comrade in a combat zone. These operators could not find a ride other than an American apache gunship, an aircraft that is incapable of holding passengers. However this did not stop these two men from rescuing their friend and they risked life and limb just for an opportunity to search for him and risk their life and limb just for an attempt to bring back their friend’s body. Another definition of friendship can be defined as follows:

To be friends means to love. To love means to endure. To endure means to believe in the other.

As we all know from watching an episode of COPS or even reading the Monday morning newspaper love makes you do some stupid things. People who are otherwise reasonable and law-abiding will open fire on U.S. Marshals, lie to law enforcement, escape and evade the highway patrol, smuggle narcotics, or even commit murder. Criminals know this and most criminals exploit their girlfriends/spouses love for their own benefit. A reasonable person will do amazingly stupid things when under the influence of “love” or “agape”. Love cannot even be rivaled by such powerful drugs as cocaine or crystal meth. An individual under the influence of drug may do some amazing things but most medal of honor recipients have done things far more amazing all in the hopes of protecting their “Brother in Arms”. Hence we arrive at my next term, the “friend whore”. A “friend whore” is someone who has a lot of friends and often changes them often. They form little to no relationship to their supposed friends and the end result is that we live in a society of sociopaths. Those who care only about their own images of self-worth and are unable to form meaningful relationships with others. Their own self-image is boosted by their own manufactured lies and reinforced by our modern society’s teachings that everyone is valuable, important, and special. These images of self-worth enhance feeling of arrogance and don’t enforce any desire to improve oneself giving way to further ignorance of the world in which we live. This phenomenon can be witnessed in full on the website known as “My Space” where the name of the game is to get as many no-name faces that will never meat in real life to consider you their “friend”. Today’s generation has no idea what friendship means or what sacrifices are needed to be made. Our neurotic notions of self-worth make us put a premium on our own feelings which is why many Americans are always in favor of even more Orwellian laws to strip away freedoms from each other in an attempt to make “us” the individual, safer.

In traditional Chinese culture a man would usually have one or two friends in his lifetime if he was lucky; the western concept of “friendship” confused them as they actually valued friendship. As crazy as it seems, if we all had just one friend, one good friend perhaps we would all have a little more respect for our fellow man and we would make the world a better place inadvertently.

Perhaps if Cho had just one true friend the massacre at Virginia Tech may have been avoided, perhaps if the liberal student body that was so concerned with the world wanted to “make a difference” they could have started on their own campus. It was obvious from the police reports that Cho was socially awkward and did attempt to reach out to others but had become callous from his continual dealings with the “me generation”. While this is certainly no excuse for Cho’s actions perhaps we could start by improving security by addressing these issues rather than firing up another gun control debate. After all, guns don’t kill people, people kill people. If you manage to rid yourself of the guns what is stop another Timothy McVeigh? Perhaps we should ban all the diesel fuel, fertilizer, and rental trucks also.

Driving a Prius and feeding the children is an exercise in futility, truly making the world a better place for future generations requires a fundamental change in the way we think and treat each other. We can’t all be friendly with everyone, to do that would require more time and effort than any of us are capable of enduring, but to have just one friend in our life that we can keep in contact with and endure through all of life’s trials and tribulations would improve us overall.

Awesome post. I think that almost anyone can understand what you are talking about… unconditional love… because most people have experienced this relation on the receiving end from their mother. But friends are different than family because we choose them. Even if the circumstance is dire, such as in combat, the experience is no less valid. I think this is one of the reasons that civilians, such as myself, have an admiration, but also a barrier of misunderstanding with folks that have seen combat (notice that I did not use the more generic concept of “military personnel”, because many of those are pencil pushers too. I dunno. I don’t think that I’d help any of my friends or family hide a body, if we’re talking simple murder. But I’d still love them and do what I could to make the most of their situation. Absolute loyalty to any person is dangerous and misplaced. We should be true to ourselves, loyal to our root ideals, and dependable to our friends and family.

I wouldn’t help anyone I know hide a body, I don’t need to be an accomplice to murder. Believe it or not, some of young folk do understand friendship. Not many, but some wind up having a few really good friends an a couple acquaintances as opposed to a bunch of people they barely know yet still call friends. We’re not all morons

Great post shore-leave. Good friends are hard to come by. I found my best friend when I was 17 (a very long time ago). If I was to bury any body, it would have been for her.

AB 1471 passed both the Senate and Assembly and now goes to the Governor for approval / veto. Contact Governor Schwarzenegger and urge him to VETO AB 1471. Do not procrastinate. Do have your friends, family, and any others contact him to veto this bill.

What is the bill about:
-starting with 2009 all firearms sold in California will be required to be fitted with a firing pin that imprints the serial number of the gun on the ammo casing.

Why it is bad:
-Any criminal with an I.Q. over a 50, which there are a couple, is gonna know to take a file to erase the microstamping grooves on the damn firing pin. The honest citizen will just have the cost of production passed on to him.
-Any criminal with and I.Q. under 50 which there are scores, is gonna use a revolver, not a pistol to commit a crime. Revolvers do not eject spent casings, they remain inside the revolver cylinder.
-If you have a criminal that is really smart (and there are plenty) he would go at any public shooting range and collect a few spent shells from the range floor then drop them at the crime scene. Imagine your surprise when the cops will knock on your door if one or more of the spent shells are yours.

Help stop California Democrats like Dianne Feinstein and Nancy Pelosi eroding our Constitutional rights. They don’t want to make us safer; they want better control over all of us, over our lives and liberties Make no mistake about this, FIREARMS MICROSTAMPING will follow you like a bad rash- even if you don’t live in California.
Smoking bans started here; mandatory seat belt started here; should I continue with the list of liberties taken away from us where California was the testing ground? I’d urge any US citizen, not just Californians, to flood the Governor’s office with calls, faxes and emails to get AB 1471 stopped NOW. This is the Russian neo-Nazi decapitation execution video that was taking the Russian Internet by storm in early August. It’s the video of Russian neo-Nazis executing two “Blacks” - that is, two White men - one from Dagestan and one from Tajikistan. For a sane inquiry into whether or not reasonable people would consider Dagestanis and Tajiks to be White or not, see my meditations.

This video has aroused tremendous controversy on the net. A group called either National Socialism/White Power or National Socialists of Rus claimed responsibility for the video, but authorities said they had never heard of either group. Rus is the name of the ancient Viking state centered around Kiev - the Kievan Rus. This was the first Russian state, and the name “Rus” is widely used by nationalists instead of Russia. A similar neo-Nazi group, the Russian Nationalist Party, can be seen in these videos here and here. The latter video at least has some great music.

The video is quite well-done, and heavy metal music plays in the background. On one site, the poster of the video called himself “Anti-gypsy”. After it appeared in August, it was quickly removed from most of the sites where it was found, and the National Socialism/White Power site.

The video opens first with a Nazi flag and a machine gun sound in the background, and then and a shout of “Glory to Rus!”. Then it shows a pan of a Russian town in the countryside. Next it shows a lake surrounded by a forest. The camera zooms in on the forest and shows two men bound, gagged and hogtied on the ground. ( Update: A website is now claiming that the two men were executed for being rapists. The site is pro-Nazi, though, so it is hard to say whether there is anything to that or not).

One is clearly terrified. Next it shows the two frightened men apparently saying, unprompted, in heavily accented Russian, through their gags, “Russian National Socialists arrested us”, as they are bound by hands and legs, kneeling, in the forest. There is a large Nazi flag in the background. Then an extremely unskilled executioner - a masked man in combat fatigues - coming up behind one of the captives and grabbing him to the same shout of “Glory to Rus!” He then starts sawing the poor guy’s head off, but does a lousy job of it. I assume the executioner guy is not employed as a butcher. Either his knife is too dull, or he is just a lousy head-chopper. The poor guy screams a bit at first, but fortunately expires quickly. Yet the incompetent executioner spends far too long - 90 seconds - sawing the rest of the guy’s head off. The grunting and gasping sounds you hear as he saws the guy’s head are from the executioner, not the victim, I assume. The killer really needs to take lessons from the Al Qaeda head-choppers in Iraq - clearly experts at the craft.

Finally he chops the poor sod’s head off and then tries to put the head on the decapitated body, but the head keeps rolling off the body. Once again, he needs to take lessons from Al Qaeda, especially the ones in Saudi Arabia, who did an excellent job of balancing US Apache helicopter engineer Paul Johnson’s decapitated head on the rest of his body. Finally, we are shown the other hostage. There is the same shout, “Glory to Rus!”, and he is quickly dispatched with a shot to the head from behind, whereupon he topples into a freshly-dug grave. The video then shows two Nazi bastards, completely covered from head to toe, giving the obvious salute in front of a Nazi flag.

A lot of these Russian neo-Nazi videos have come out, and almost all have been either non-homicidal or fake so far. Not this one. What if the two executed guys were actually rapists? What if they brutally raped the executioner’s Daughter and Wife? Would this then be less of a Neo – Nazi attack and more of an eye for eye revenge killing? I know that the inference is that the executions are a direct result of Russian Nationalism, but would the sawing off of the head be less horrific if we could place a purpose, such as rape, instead of Nationalism behind it? The problem with knife fighting systems or systems of unarmed combat is that it assumes that the defender is of equal or greater strength and agility than his opponent. Factors that are not taken into consideration are the defending opponent’s size, agility, physical strength, and speed. These factors that are often conveniently overlooked yet are critical in determining what course of action to take in a defensive situation. Many martial art instructors are running a business and fail to take these considerations into account setting up their pupils for suicide in a real life or death self-defense encounter.

Now there will be countless people who jump and say, “That’s not true, you simply have to practice more” To them I say this, almost every martial art in the world has classes for its fighters, and this is to protect their fighters from grave or permanent bodily injury and themselves from class action lawsuits. A 250lb 5’11” fighter would destroy a 170lb 5’11” fighter of equal training. And if you put that same fighter against a woman the result would be horrific. The simple truth is that a sucker born every minute and someone is always willing to profit from someone else ignorance. While spending hundreds if not thousands of dollars a year to be taught martial arts from someone may help you to become a more efficient fighter that money and time could be applied elsewhere in a more efficient manner. For example, purchasing a tazer and learning the basic techniques to create distance from you and your attacker so you can deploy your weapon in a safe manner.

I am a firm believer that mankind has evolved to the point where he can realize that tools are beneficial to him yet some of us still look at self-defense in a prehistoric context. The human body is a soft, weak, small and pathetic creature when compared to other mammals. We have little to no natural defenses and are not designed for combat. The only weapon that a human posse is their superior intellect. When left to our own basic devices the only real way to defend ourselves is either ball up our hand into a fist and swing it or “kick”. This may sound foolish but many people believe this is an adequate method of self defense. Yet when we must defend ourselves from natures predators we always tend to use the biggest, largest, baddest fucking rifle, handgun or a dart loaded up with enough drugs to neutralize an elephant that money can buy. Few people are foolish enough to venture into the Alaskan wilderness completely unarmed. When faced with natures real predators suddenly are brain starts working and we realize just how pathetic we truly are when confronted with a bear or a wolf. It is a shame that this thinking does not make its way to the streets or the combat zone. Many military commanders and self-proclaimed “self defense” experts still tout the benefits of learning martial arts as it teaches discipline and self-confidence. Clearly none of these individual have ever taken up marksmanship as a hobby. The amount of time and discipline required to become a successful or even a mediocre marksman is phenomenal but the skills one learns makes him the greatest threat to all living creatures, predator and mankind alike.

There will always be snake oil salesmen selling some cure or fix all to the masses. In today’s “tactical” day and age this snake oil is martial arts and all its various forms. These instructors usually leave out important details such as physics. Martial arts as self defense is a fallacy based upon action movies and hype through the ages. The fallacy of martial arts as a self defense quickly dematerializes if one looks at self defense in the confines of a prison. In a prison you can’t pick who you fight, there are no weight classes, and more often than not you will be attacked with a weapon or by a group of individuals. The most hardened criminals know that in order to survive a prison altercation one must be physically strong, capable of extreme violence, and fast. Not everyone in prison possesses these abilities and they cannot be taught. On top of that most prison yard martial arts goes as far as concealing a weapon until its employed and delivering a barrage of hits to the head in order to collapse the individual, this is then followed by physically stomping on the head repeatedly with the intent to break the skull and kill the opponent. For all the money and time spent at the best martial art schools no one will admit that the only effective means of defending oneself is to use a disproportionate amount of violence to incapacitate the attacker with the exception of Krav Maga. Even the practitioners of Krav Maga would grudgingly admit that their martial art doesn’t work if the “defender” is of smaller stature and physical strength than their attacker. The reason that physical strength is so vital in any martial art is that if a 75lb pound punch is thrown into the face of a 125lb individual that individual will be unconscious due to the fact that their brain will shift so violently it will cause an involuntary shutdown. If that same 75lb punch was thrown into the face of a 250lb individual that individual will probably still be standing as that is not enough force to cause a shift significant enough to cause an involuntary shutdown of their brain. The point here is that size and natural physical strength play an important role in one’s self defense strategy. No self defense expert, no matter how skilled will ever go up against a black bear or a wolf because of the natural advantages these predators possess. However these same instructors have no problem teaching their pupils to defend themselves against aggressors that have a similar disproportionate advantage.

The worst culprit of them all is the military, the military should definitely know better. Our military organization is designed to create and maintain killers not fighters, and this distinction is very important. Often times the military likes to call its service members “fighters” or “warriors” and this pisses me off to no end. To be short, a killer is a person, plant, object that kills. Today’s military waste far too much time wrapping itself up in details and trying to find justification for it lifestyle through religious, political, or patriotic means instead of focusing in one the psychological and methodological mental approach that is required to kill. All of the factors of political and religious justification mean nothing to the killer, the killer possess a cold heart that makes him impervious to social taboos against killing and kills when ordered to do so. The killer should only be concerned with the act of killing and the most efficient and reliable way to do so. The concepts of the warrior or fighter are foreign to the killer. The killer kills because he has the capability, equipment, and authorization to do so.

The killer kills because he is a killer.

However today’s military leaders insist on teaching today’s killers how to fight in hand to hand combat regardless of the fact that such fighting is EXTREMELY rare in combat and more often than not when both combatants find themselves unarmed on the battlefield they both run away in opposite directions. The movies love to portray the long drawn out knife or hand to hand fight scene where the good guy and the bad guy square like two lone cowboys. In reality any individual who has been exposed to the realities of war isn’t that stupid. Unless the killer possesses an obvious tactical advantage over his opponent his most sensible option is to flee as quickly as possible until he can reconstitute his strength and embark again in the hunt against his fellow man. Wasting time and resources training killers to be fighters is ridiculous and counterproductive to harnessing the natural killer instinct that all men possess. A fighter may kill but he is trained to fight and have his opponent submit, whether or not an opponent submits to a killer is of little consequence as his job is to kill and not merely defeat.

Currently the average service member qualifies with his weapon twice a year. In ground combat units service members qualify with their weapons every quarter or twice a quarter. This is simply inadequate and not nearly enough training to develop an adequate marksman. Granted the U.S. forces are more adequately trained than many of our adversaries this is no excuse for sub par performance when we possess the capability to do so much more. During World War II, the Allies fired an average of 25,000 bullets for each enemy soldier killed. The ratio of bullet to killed in action only kept climbing for there. U.S. forces in the Korean War expended 50,000 rounds for each enemy killed in action and with the advent of fully automatic rifles issued to rifleman this waste reached an apex in Vietnam with 200,000 bullets expended for one single enemy dead. Yet somehow, the military feels we need less emphasis on marksmanship and more emphasis on “warrior culture” and hand to hand combat. Our armed forces need to move away from the ideals of warrior and return to the ideal of manufacturing and maintaining a standing army of killers. Fighters don’t win wars, killers do. An 18 year old enlistee that weighs 150lbs that is an accomplished marksman is more deadly than an 18 year old enlistee that weighs 200lbs, can bench 500lbs, and is a master of mixed martial arts. Granted that the larger male trained in traditional warrior skills is more effective in close combat the fact remains that men do not wage wars by bar room brawls but on the battlefield and lives are claimed at 500 meters.

The deadliest weapon in the world is a marine and his rifle. Whether it is a self defense scenario of a woman armed with a .38 revolver in a dark alley or the lone soldier on the battlefield armed with his M16, few things on this earth are as deadly as a well-aimed shot. It is no surprise that firearms are more heavily restricted on this planet then chemical weapons, nuclear munitions, or continental ballistic missiles. The fact of the matter is that more people on earth have been killed by well aimed shots from a firearm than nuclear weapons; usually they are killed by their own governments. As the old domestic violence sayings goes, “You are more likely to be killed by someone you know.” Personal firearm ownership shouldn’t be a privilege but a human right as it is the only viable means to protect oneself. To restrict firearm ownership is to restrict personal freedom. How can one have personal freedom or be able to enjoy the “pursuit of happiness” if they can’t even defend themselves from attack. Simply removing the individual’s right to personal protection and putting it in the hands of the state is irresponsible. Martial arts cannot even be considered as self-defense because it cannot level the playing field. Our military needs to return back to basics in order to let our military continue to grow into the fighting machine that it is capable of being. The many schools of martial arts need to be shown for the frauds they really are as they continue to perpetuate the lie that anyone can defend themselves against anyone given proper training. I would have thought that the first season of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (before they added all the rules, regulations, and weight classes) would have shown the world that no matter how much you train and practice your thousand year old martial art you can still get your ass kicked by a 250lb trucker from Nebraska. With that, I’ll leave you with my favorite quote with regards to self defense; “God created man, Sam Colt made them equal”

That is a perfect diatribe illustrating the soundness of Posse Comitatus. Our Army has no business doing anything but fighting other armies and is the reason we’re violating international law in Iraq. You and your heavily restricted firearm became obsolete on August 6, 1945.

The Government is probably incorporating non lethel fighting techniques in the training to protect our citizens from you. Had you not been presented with a spectrum of force you would not be able to handle civil conflicts. I can easily kill but I am anything but a killer.

I used this as proof that the US Army has no right acting as international police, which we have been constantly doing for decades. The only time I would kill a human is when my life is directly threatened or another person is directly threatened. Only a soldier needs to be programmed to kill when not directly threatened. You believe the bullshit your commander in chief feeds you and drop into sovereign nations, after being programmed to be a mindless killer.
